Carolyn B. Joy

Carolyn Joy has always worked in real estate. She began her career at a Brazilian company learning the art of negotiation in both English and Portuguese. Ambitious and independent, she quickly moved to open her own firm representing property owners drawn to her business model of personal, intelligent and dedicated guidance. Carolyn joined Brown Harris Stevens in 2003, recognizing its impressive market dominance and exclusive affiliations that would enhance her ability to serve a growing client base. Her career boasts hundreds of closings representing the buyer, the seller and frequently both. In 2018 Carolyn joined forces with Ian McGowan to form the Joy/McGowan Team at Brown Harris Stevens and together they offer a tireless work ethic empowering clients buying and selling across the city. Their complementary staging and creative marketing skills dovetail perfectly with a keen understanding of valuation and skilled approach to the art of negotiation. Carolyn is dual licensed, balancing her time between New York and Westchester where she is one half of the Tishelman Joy Platinum sales team at Houlihan Lawrence; her unique perspective and cross-market knowledge have served her clients well. Carolyn attributes much of her success to enduring relationships with clients from prior deals, and agent referrals from other market areas. Carolyn is an American Field Service(AFS '74) returnee and a graduate of the University of Michigan ~Go Blue!
