A native of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, John Armich has spent many years immersed in real estate, first as an agent and property manager in San Francisco in the 1990s focusing mainly on commercial and multi-family properties, then as a highly regarded architectural photographer for residential real-estate brokerages and interior designers (with a few weddings thrown in for good measure) and now as a realtor in Philadelphia. Licensed in Pennsylvania since 2016, John now has a business balanced between residential and commercial real-estate sales. Travel and learning about other cultures have always been major interests of John’s, and he has traveled widely, including a stay in Finland as a Rotary International exchange student while in high school. After graduating from Vancouver Island University, he headed to Japan to work as an English teacher and spent four years living and working in the Asia-Pacific region. After earning a bachelor’s degree in East Asian Studies from Ursinus College in Pennsylvania, John headed west to San Francisco where he graduated from the Real Estate Institute of San Francisco with a real-estate license and property-management diploma. After several years, the travel bug hit John again and he moved to Paris to study at the Alliance Francaise where he enjoyed meeting people from all over the world. “My interest in other cultures is one reason I feel the Sotheby’s International Realty brand is such a good fit for my career,” says John. “It’s a unique platform for marketing my clients’ properties and for building a network of referral business literally from all over the world.” John moved back to Pennsylvania and spent time exploring various arts communities between New York City and Philadelphia, developing his eye and learning to take concepts and turn them into artwork. He began his career in real-estate photography, acquired a multi-unit property adjacent to Bear Creek Mountain resort that he successfully ran as an AirBnB property and hasn’t looked back. Now a dual citizen of the United States and Canada, John lives in Philadelphia and though he knows the city’s neighborhoods well, he has a special interest in Fishtown, Northern Liberties and such developing areas as Brewerytown, Francisville and Graduate Hospital. He is based in Kurfiss Sotheby’s International Realty’s Rittenhouse Square office.
