Jan exhibited an interest in real estate circa age 5, voicing unedited opinions of any and all interiors. Following a 30 year time-out to pursue other areas, she returned full circle broadening her focus to include exteriors. The timing was miraculous really as the moment had come for manufacturing to flee the city, leaving handsome cast-iron buildings behind, empty and waiting to be claimed by the many artists in need of giant, light, wide open space to occupy.

Jan was able to form her real estate program seamlessly, focusing on ‘adaptive reuse', and guiding artists in identifying their future studios and homes. Indeed in many instances she sold entire industrial buildings, leading the way to the development of Lower Manhattan. Townhouses have become another focus as well as certain condominiums which have been spared the heavy trend of overdesign and symbols of wealth.

Jan has been the recipient of multiple awards as a top producer, the most recent being
for 2021 in the top 2% nationwide.

During her absence from her real estate career, Jan attended RISD, Mass Art and Yale (MFA). For many years she lived in England teaching painting at Corsham Wiltshire, Canterbury College and Cambridge University. She showed at the James Mayor Gallery in London.

She served as a trustee of the Greenwich Village Historic Preservation Society, and was formerly a trustee of Independent Curators International.
Her work is represented in private collections as well as the Busch-Reisinger Museum / Harvard University, MOMA , the Smithsonian Museum.
